Going "live:" the only test that really matters.

At Cool Conservatory, our students walk the talk.

Athena Sings and Dances, 2011

Athena (now age 8) has studied piano and composition at Cool Conservatory since she was 4 years old.

She was 6 when she sang her original piece "Mountains" at our concert -- then surprised everyone with an unplanned ballet routine. There's also an improvisation on "Carol of the Bells" by her teacher Mr. Michael at the end of the video.

Fall Concert 2010, Excerpt

We begin each concert with the little ones: First is George (5), playing his original piece "The Christmas Mummy" -- no, we're not kidding, you should hear what he WANTED to call it...

Then Ryan; Sarah; Athena, playing an original work entitled "The Petal Roses;" and finally Katie. All these children were 7 or younger. Wow! These are very dedicated and serious young performers.

Mr. Michael Premiers "Snowfall"

A week before this performance, the director urgently emailed me for a title because the program was going to press. All I could think of was "Snowfall." And that's all I had when I went up there, just the title. I had no clue what I'd play...

My wife, Miss Mary, suggested painting a landscape, then covering it with snow -- whispering to me in the front pew 5 minutes beforehand. :-)

Students and Staff Original Work

Original acoustic piano work by Logan, age 17, of Old Greenwich, CT. Logan has studied composition and improvisation at Cool Conservatory for over two years.

Logan's music is elegant and sophisticated. "November Memories" was composed and refined over a three week period, then had its premier at our annual Fall Concert.

Original song, music and lyrics by Athena, age 7, of Stamford, CT. Athena has studied composition, improvisation and piano at Cool Conservatory for over three years.

Athena developed this piece in GarageBand. She experimented with several instrumental versions before deciding to add a vocal instead. This piece is entirely her own work.
